The winners of the IP&IT LAW-2018 competition have been announced

Awarding of the winners of the III National youth competition in intellectual property and information technologies law in IP&IT LAW-2018 will take place on 6 April 2018 at the Ninth Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF-2018) in Saint Petersburg. IP CLUB and the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ organized the competition with the support of the State Duma Committee on Informational Policy, Information Technology, and Communications.

The winners have been announced already; however, the distribution of places between them will remain a secret until the awarding ceremony. This year works of young researchers from different Russian regions and other countries were presented for the IP&IT LAW – 2018 competition. The winners of IP&IT LAW – 2018 are:

• Linar Safargaleev (for the paper “Robots as subjects of law”; fourth-year student of the Ural State Law University’s Institute of Justice);
• Anastasia Semyonova (for the paper “I, robot – I, author: an attempt to reflect on the possibility of granting copyrights to robots from the law point of view (comparative legal analysis in the context of philosophy and fiction)”; fourth-year student of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations’ International Law Department (MGIMO));
• Anastasia Sukhareva (for the paper “Some issues of intellectual property rights when creating objects by means of 3D printing”; graduate student of the Research Centre of Private Law under the President of Russian Federation).

The jury also made special mention of several other student papers for their creativity and individuality. In addition, authors of papers that won in a special category “Best work on “Human rights on the Internet” will get prizes.

IP CLUB is a popular educational and expert project in the field of IP&Digital Law. The participants study how new information technologies and development of intellectual property affect modern law. IP CLUB organizes events not only for students and professors but also for everyone engaged in self-study and self- development who is interested in the development of digital law and intellectual property rights.
