Ivan Zassoursky — Lomonosov Moscow State University

Ivan Zassoursky is Candidate of Sciences in Philology, member of the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights, head of the Department of New Media and Communications Theory at Lomonosov Moscow State University, president of the Web Publishers Association and head of social educational and copyright project (Public Domain; Popular Education; Noosphere: Launch and Academic Correspondent). He started his career as a reporter at Studinfrombyuro and Nezavisimaya Gazeta newspaper, became head of the economic department at Nezavisimaya Gazeta in 1993 and headed the first governor election campaign. In 1999, he published the book Mass Media in the Second Republic which was based on his thesis. The second edition, updated and revised, was published under the title Reconstructing Russia, and in 2004, the English version Media & Power in Post-Soviet Russia was released. Zassoursky worked as deputy product and marketing director and special projects director (Rambler-ICQ) and president of the Rambler Fund and Lenta.ru in 2001–2006.
